The Ascent of Money

In his bumper volume The Ascent of Money (television series here), historian Niall Ferguson sets out to tell the history of the world, not in terms of kings and dynasties, but rather in terms of money, credit and bubbles. This makes an awful lot of sense, for regardless of the greatness of kings and warriors, they can do little without the underlying assets of weapons, ships, supplies and funding. Kapitalisme er sund fornuft

Det er en kilde til dyb undren, at en del af klimademonstranterne hellere vil nedbryde vores moderne økonomiske system end gøre noget ved klimaet. Kapitalismen er egentlig ikke et system i sig selv, men udtryk for tings naturlige tilstand, hvor alle borgere har ret til arbejde, opsparing og investering, samt at beholde resultatet af sine investeringer (efter skat, naturligvis).
